This is my new book (1/09/2011) where I combine two areas – mathematics and art. In this book I show how selected geometric ornaments from Istanbul can be constructed. All constructions are done step-by-step. I use Geometer’s Sketchpad to construct all ornaments shown and described in this book. I explore the most interesting geometric ornaments from mosques, streets, museums, and some other places in Istanbul. Many of the examples shown in this book are typical for Turkey and Ottoman Empire architecture. Some of them may not even occur outside of this region.
